FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

MT5, or MetaTrader 5, is a trading platform. You can use it to open, close and manage trades, as well as monitor and analyse the markets in real-time.

The minimum deposit requirement actually depends on your trading account, not the platform itself. With FXTM, you can start trading $200 on the Advantage, Advantage Stocks and Advantage Plus MT5 accounts. If that's a little too steep for you, we suggest starting it out on the MT4 platform.

Many traders prefer to use industry favourite MT4, as while it still has a huge range of tools and indicators, it's a little simpler than MT5. MT5 has additional chart timeframes and features like Netting. It was also designed to offer greater access to CFDs, stocks and futures. It all depends on your own unique trading needs. MetaTrader is the platform you use to trade on, but any profits you make are made on your trading account with your broker. Once you have created an account with FXTM, it will be directly linked to your platform.

You don't deposit or withdraw money on MetaTrader at all. This is done on your trading account with your broker. You can learn more about our deposit and withdrawal options here.

MT5 is completely free to download. You will of course need to fund your trading account to start trading.

It depends on your personal preference. MT4 was specifically designed for FX traders, while MT5 was built with CFD, stock and futures traders in mind - although you can still trade FX on MT5, and you aren't limited solely to FX on MT4 either. Traders looking to analyze the markets in greater depth might benefit from the additional technical indicators and timeframes that MT5 offers.
